  1. Zoeys morning reflection was cool. I liked the suspense and twist that occurred through and at the end of the video. She chose something very different, and it helped me to explore other topics.

  2. Zoe's morning reflection wasn't at all what I expected! The music and voice over were creepy so I could tell that something scary was going to happen but I wasn't expecting Jenny to have a disconnected head! I liked how the video used contrast, by starting out with Jenny being cheerful and in her wonder years but then as the video progressed the tone shifted. I think the video was relevant as well because of the upcoming season of Halloween and Fall just beginning.

  3. Dang bruh. That was a very strange twist. I have never witnessed or experienced decapitation before so i cant really relate to it much but the narrative was strong and the story was intriguing. Good mini story, although I'm not exactly sure what the moral/meaning of the story is.

  4. I heard this story before somewhere before as a child, but cannot exactly pinpoint when or how. The voice of the narrator gave the story a certain eerie tone that compelled you to want to know what was going happen next. It would be interesting to know why Zoe chose this for a morning reflection. It was odd, but good.

  5. Zoe,

"The Green Ribbon was an quirky video to show us this morning. It had just enough sentimentality to contrast with the "Gothic" ending. I am always amazed at how horror writers can explore what frightens and disgusts us. In light of all the awful beheadings of journalists in the news recently, this seems like a quaint fantasy--a woman has a green ribbon around her neck to keep her head on throughout her life. I wonder what kind of metaphor that is.

  6. I feel like the illustration and narration made this story way more scary than it was intended to be but all in all I liked it. It's amazing how such a short story can have such suspense, I also feel like the writer teased us by creating such a silly ending.

  7. When I was younger, I loved to read horror stories. My favorite book was called In a dark, dark room and other scary stories. I remember reading it over and over. My favorite story in the book was "The Green Ribbon." I loved the way it had a unique twist at the end. This story inspired me to write horror fiction.

  8. I could kind of predict the outcome of The Green Ribbon. However, the video was entertaining and creepy! I admire the fact that Zoe showed something a bit different for the reflection than usual. The video was scary and slightly humorous which reminds me to not take the day too seriously. I often find myself getting stuck on little things and dwelling on mall mistakes that don't matter. It's nice to start the morning off with a laugh.

  9. I had read this story when I was younger, and it was the weirdest thing I had ever read. Listening to this story again made me realize that children's books don't always have to have a happy ending. The plot twist at the end of the book is so much different than the rest of the story, which really makes it stand out and is most likely the reason I remembered it this long. It was also different than the rest of the morning reflections, and it was a nice change.

  10. what confuses me a little about the green ribbon is how she was still alive. how did she lose it any way? it is impressive how she kept it a secret her whole life. I don't think it would be easy to lie to every one or hide the fact that at one point you were decapitated. it was a very fitting ending to the build up of suspense.

  11. I liked Zoe's presentation, it was a nice children's poem. I liked all of the visuals, and the narrators voice. I liked how there was a twist at the end, because no one expected her head to fall off. I thought it was very entertaining, and different.

  12. This story was very....interesting, to say the least. I loved the narration and the music in the background, whose tone constantly kept foreshadowing, or alluding to, the fact that something terrible was about to surface. The story itself appears very simple and stable up until the ending, which still managed to throw me for a loop, despite the allusion it kept up. I can only assume that the ribbon somewhat represents her bond to life, and the moment she is about to die, it becomes undone. Despite my confusion, the horror is very effective, especially for what seems to be a children's story, but it seems that is what kid's like at their really young age.

  13. It was supposed to be more entertaining rather than a message purposely portrayed for the audience. It was rather entertaining, and peculiar.
