Portfolio Fiction

Good morning, everyone!! Welcome back and I hope everyone had a wonderful break! Today we are starting a new mini-unit!

AGENDA:

1. In this mini-unit, you will be writing several pieces of fiction that will ultimately go into your portfolio. We will be exploring discussing and exploring different genres of popular fiction. You will be turning in some form of writing by the end of every class. For the as a whole, you will be required to write and turn in at least one of the following:

• Warm-ups (5 total, 3 required): 5 pts each
• Creative non-fiction: 10 pts
• Mystery/crime: 10 pts
• Romance: 10 pts
• Micro-fiction
• 300 words or less: 10-15 pts
• 6 sentences: 20 pts
• 6 words: 30 pts
• Poetry: 10 pts
• Partner story: 20 pts
• Epistolary story: 20 pts

2. Warm-up: 10-15 minutes

3. Discuss creative non-fiction, mystery/crime, romance genres.

4. Writing time. For the rest of the block, you may EITHER:

• Continue working with your warm up, turning it into a non-fiction, mystery, or romance short story or poem.
• Begin a new work using any of the prompts from The Pocket Muse by Monica Wood
• Non-fiction: pg. 122 & 45
• Mystery or Romance: pg. 147 & 203
