  1. Blowing in the wind by Bob Dylan won the noble piece prize for his charismatic lyrics which gave the image of people being blind to racism and senseless violence in the world. How people are being death to those who scream liberty, but he is just a voice. The real test is weather we can fix the way things are now hence his title "blowing in the wind" and "time are changing".

  2. Winning with Nobel Prize for Literature is one of the many out-of-the-box accomplishments of Bob Dylan. He has become the first musician to win the prize, which is under great debate. Should songwriting be held to the same caliber as poetry and novel writing? I personally agree with the winning choice because songwriting is an extraordinary and difficult art that requires a great understanding of language, rhythm, and music. Dylan's ability to tell great and impactful stories through songwriting is an incredible talent and is rightfully recognized with the Nobel Prize.

  3. Bob Dylan winning the noble piece prize in literature isn't a surprise. Bob Dylan's lyrics aren't just words strung together, they have a message. Dylan used advanced poetry to express what he thought about the world and people listened.

  5. Before this I vaguely remember ever hearing about Bob Dylan. I never have listened to him before and wouldn't plan to. Him winning the Nobel Prize in literature does change a lot of things. From the videos in the articles his lyrics seemed to have character and seemed to portray what he believed. His lyrics seemed to not just be words in a song but a poem.

  6. Bob Dylan, in my opinion, does deserve the Nobel Prize for Literature because despite the fact that his voice isn't necessarily what would be considered today as "beautiful", he does convey certain messages with each song he writes and sings for. Each of them serve a purpose in order to lift the people up from whatever sorrows or despairs that ail them, and to help so many people with his words is the epitome of what a Noble Prize for Literature stands for: to be able to effect others who are suffering, and to bring awareness to others who are not.

  7. Bob Dylan winning the Noble Peace Prize for literature is not surprising because isn't songs are like free verse poems? So I think that having a musician winning a Noble Peace Prize is not surprising. I think more musicians need to get the prize and not only novelists and poets.

  8. I do believe Bob Dylan deserves the Nobel prize. This shows that literature and songwriting can be a "Fine Art" because when you are writing songs it's just like creating and telling a story. The only differences between songwriting and writing a book is, the musician sings his "story" and is summed up witihin a much shorter amount of time compared to writing and reading an entire book. To summarize it up, songwriting is a fine art because of it's hidden story/meaning in the music.

  9. I find it interesting that Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize for literature. his songs have certain important messages. each one is important and displays messages that any poem or story could. I also think its interesting that Dylan is the 2nd american to win this award. it says something about his music for him to win this award.

  10. Bob Dylan winning the Nobel Prize for Literature did surprise me at first, as I've only ever seen him as a musician, but, once you take a look at his lyrics it's easy to understand why he's won such an award. His lyrics have a certain depth and imagery to them that mimic a poetic style. Songs are, in general, just poems set to instrumentals. Depending on the content, lyrics can be considered literature. Thus, Dylan, does, in my opinion, deserve the honor.

  11. Bob Dylan is an established singer and songwriter who has found a way into the hearts of many Americans, but that does not necessarily mean that he deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature. This sort of occurrence is not something that happens everyday, and the quality of songwriting cannot be judged at the same level as novels or even poetry. Although song lyrics and poetry are similar, they do have some significant differences. Songs have a different set of feelings that are evoked in a specific way that would be different if a short story were read out loud. Many other famous people have given him congratulations, including Joyce Carol Oates, but it seems a bit strange that he should be given such an honor.

  13. Bob Dylan was at first someone who I didn’t believed should’ve won the Nobel Peace Prize. I’ve heard of him before, but wasn’t sure why he’d be important enough for the prize. He was a strong songwriter in the 60’s and apparently had been very important. After reading the articles & watching the video, it is no surprise to many others as to why he won. His words were poetic, and ultimately touching to lots. They were put together nicely and it tells that he is completely capable of being a writer.

  14. Bob Dylan does deserve this prize because as Billy Collins said, he is one of the very few musicians whose lyrics have an impact with or without music. Bob Dylan deserves the Nobel Prize because of his poetic and influential lyrics that reflect his writing ability.

  15. I feel that songwriters in general should be just as eligible for the prize as any other author. how the literature is presented shouldn't impact whether or not that work gets to be classified as important literature or not. Bob Dylan is deserving of the Nobel prize

  16. Bob Dylan deserves the Nobel Prize because his work has effected people as if it were literature. No matter what form his words take. music behind it or not his work is thought provoking. Literature is to talk about human experiences, and connect to the audience and Bod Dylan has done more than that. Many people are angry about this saying that other writers deserve this prize, however if they did deserve it than they would have won, meaning they affected enough people to win a prize in literature as a musician.

  17. Bob Dylan defiantly deserve the Nobel Prize because his lyrics are not just music, but they are very meaningful words that have impacted many of people. His music shows a lot of imagery which draws much attention his way.

  18. I think Bob Dylan winning the Nobel Prize was a monumental leap to the definitions of literature. He began as a brilliant singer and songwriter, but his powerful lyrics have moved him beyond what any songwriter before him has done. Especially since he's the first American is a long time to win. I think it's impressive, and well deserving after a life time of work.

  19. Bob Dylan is just as qualified to receive the Nobel Prize as previous winners. His songs tell stories just like any other writer does. Dylan just utilizes a beat to deliver them with. In fact, Dylan goes above and beyond by reaching his listeners/readers in this way. Ultimately, it is a more effective way to tell his stories and share his writing.
