ReplyDeleteMotif Story
The motif in my story will be a teddy bear. The two different time periods will be one during the time of deep racism and segregation in the south and the other will be during “changed times” in the north. The story is going to begin with my character, Kenya living in Mississippi during the 1920’s. The setting of the story will be centered on how mistreated and disrespected African Americans were during this time. Kenya will have a teddy bear with her throughout the entire story and that is like her security blanket. It’s what she is always going to turn to that teddy bear when times get hard for her, which they will a lot of time because of the setting that she is in.
The second setting of the story will be with Kenya’s granddaughter. She is older and successful but many times forgets where she came from and how her people struggled so that she had a chance at a better life than the ones before her. After having a conversation with her grandfather one day, she discovers the teddy bear and does a complete 180 as far as her attitude goes. She begins keeping the teddy bear with her, and using it as her security blanket like her grandmother did before her.
Two motifs in my story, stars and clocks/time/ticking. One is about a 27 year old pregnant woman, and the other is about the baby's father when he is ten.
